MIA Hottie: Lissette Garcia

This week’s MIA Hottie is Lissette Garcia, a hardcore Heat fan born under the Miami sun.

In addition to rooting for the red and black, she was also crowned Miss Florida USA 2011, and finished in the top 15 for the Miss USA 2011 pageant. Girl’s got skills! Do yourself a favor and go follow the stunning South Floridian on Twitter!

First off, how long have you been a Heat fan? (You are one, right?) and what other South Florida teams do you like?

I have been a Heat fan when I first noticed Alonzo Mourning, I would say I was about 14 when I really paid attention to his game and automatically he was my favorite player in the NBA! I was at the arena when he returned to the Heat to play his first game, and I was there when his number was retired. Zo will always be an amazing player to me. I automatically became a Florida Marlins fan in 1993. As a Cuban, baseball was always watched in my house, and when we had a team to call our own, I was a fan, and then the best part was WE WON the 1997 World Series. Also as a kid the Dolphins were always a household name. In the 4th grade I was able to meet all the players (which I can’t remember them now). So South Florida sports are my number priority. GO CANES! GO Panthers (we did good this year)!

What’s the key to the Heat winning the title this year?

They definitely need to pay attention to the plays and to each other, This series now we have messed up a lot of plays simply because they weren’t paying attention. A lot of turn overs I’ve noticed too (i’m not a pro analyst) for simple mistakes. Most importantly BOSH needs to get back in there, Hurry up and heal.

What did winning Miss Florida mean to you?

It meant that anyone can do what they want but they just have to try and give it their all. I trained, I focused, and I beat the odds. With enthusiasm anything is possible. I never thought I could win, but I set my mind to it. It was a very competitive year, and any one of the girls in Top 5 would’ve been a great Miss Florida USA.

How can the average South Floridian sweep you off your feet?

I’m fairly easy to please, so when a man tries too hard to impress me it’s an automatic X. They’d have to have a sense of humor, I am a joker and witty and if you can’t understand my comedic ways, automatic X. Pick-up lines are the worst. Guys, we’ve heard them all. Just be normal and don’t be afraid to ask. I have no problem having a conversation with you, but now don’t be pushy either, if I said no it’s no (that’s goes for any girl). If they’re a musician it’s an automatic 25 points. Be Real!

What’s something most people wouldn’t know about you?

Now with social media people know a lot about me. But I love movie nights at home, I’d rather do that on a Saturday night then to dress up and wear heels. I’m a mega homebody, cooking, baking, and hanging with the family. The less make up I have to wear the better! Before winning Miss Florida, I enjoyed working in the hospital because I wore scrubs (almost like p.j’s) to work, crocs, and no make up!
