Dolphins injury update

The Dolphins chalked up a much needed win yesterday against the Titans, yet came out battered with numerous injuries. It was terrible timing as they have a short week and face the Bears at home this Thursday night. The injuries below will be updated as new information is revealed.

Updated: November 16, 4:40 PM

Jake Long

Status: He practiced on Tuesday with no protective gear on the injured shoulder. Although he may require surgery at some point in the future, he looks good to go for Thursday.

Impact: I’d rather have Long at 80% than most tackles in football.

Joe Berger

Status: Knee Injury. Did not practice Tuesday.

Impact: Cory Procter would start if Berger is unable to play.

Chris Clemons

Status: Knee injury. Did not practice Tuesday.

Impact: Rookie Reshad Jones filled in and should get quality playing time Thursday regardless if Clemons is able to play. He played very well last week.

Chad Pennington

Status: Done for the season, according to reports. His career is in jeopardy after suffering multiple injuries to the same shoulder over the years.

Impact: Well it didn’t take long (two plays) for Pennington to go down. ESPN reported Miami signed Patrick Ramsey, a first-round pick from the 2002 draft who has 38 games worth of NFL experience.

Chad Henne

Status: Unknown. The Sun Sentinel jumped the gun yesterday reporting Henne was likely done for the year. In today’s press conference, Tony Sparano made clear that wasn’t the case just yet. He described those reports as “inaccurate” at this point in time.

Impact: All signs point to Tyler Thigpen starting for the foreseeable future. Thigpen was 6 of 8 with a touchdown yesterday in the win. His combination of fearlessness and mobility might be able to reignite the offense.

Cameron Wake

Status: Apparently his hip injury was nothing serious and he is good to go. Miami Herald beat reporter Jeff Darlington reported the news via Twitter this afternoon.

Impact: Amazing news. He is the premiere playmaker on this defense. Getting pressure on Bears quarterback Jay Cutler will be critical as he has a tendency to make terrible decisions. Wake is third in the NFL in sacks with 8.5.
